I would say that my strengths in the classroom are being able to get my point across effectively, humor, relationship building, organization, time management, and an overall friendly and inviting classroom environment. I think for most first time teachers it is always the discipline issue that is the hardest thing to deal with. I know this is definitely one of my weak points because I have not been put in many of those situations and am by nature not a disciplinary type person. I do not know what my bottom line is because it has rarely been tested. Many of the other things in teaching you can prepare for but discipline is more of a crash course, on the spot, how you going to handle it deal. What do you think? Happy Blogging.
My strengths would definitely be organization, time management, and being good at using expected/unexpected or appropriate/inappropriate techniques to help students learn mostly because I tend to be sarcastic and usually am the first to see a situation in a different light. I agree with Aj about the discipline. It will be hard to apply the right amount and know how to react in what situations. I hope I can be as prepared for as much as possible and see what happens.
For me, I feel that the easiest parts would be to break the Proscenium Arch and humor. I feel that I am more relatable to students, especially at my SIs, when I admit to them I might not know some of the material the best. When this happens, I like to use them to help illustrate points that I think are unclear. I also like to poke fun at myself all the time, just so students can laugh with me WHILE laughing at me. Being relateable is key to the students you teach, especially when history may not be their favorite subject.
Voices and faces may be the worst for me, because I already have an "interesting" face on at most times, and I also have a tough time speaking in a falceto (?) voice.
i think that my strengths in the class room would have to be that i have a good sense of humor, i am a kind but stirn person, i know that i will make mistakes, i have always worked with kids when i was younger helping coach things like swimteam, and basketball, football, and track. The struglle for me would be beign prepared and staying on task. I really need to work on this because i have just been so busy my life is hectic with it not being organized.
my best strength in the classroom will most likely be my humor and my ability to be organized. Also, i feel as though i'll have a very friendly atmosphere in my classroom. My weakest aspects will be discipline, trying to be the perfect teacher too soon, and worst of all, getting up early!
You write very well.
