Based on today's class session and the clips from Chris Pirlet's class at Aberdeen Central, does it seem to you that theater games would work well as a social science teaching technique? What do you see as positives and negatives about theater games? Do you think you will use theater games yourself when you teach? Why, or why not?

I really like the theatre games we played today. There are many positives to playing theatre games. If nothing else it might get some of the kids to come out of their shells more. One the other end of the scale, they get to learn some cool history or social science in a neat way. History has all the great elements of fun theatre games, so why not play it up. The only possible down side to using a technique such as this is that they might not learn quite as much as a lecture presentation, but they would probably definitely remember the theatre games better. I think I will try to use theatre games in my classroom. Happy Blogging
I liked today's session too--some really memorable moments.
I also enjoyed the theater games and think anytime that a teacher can get away from the daily grind of note-taking is great for both the teacher and the students. I think it is also easier for students to remember the material because not only is it presented in a way that is memorable but everyone is involved. However, the problem is that we have to cover so much in such a short time it seems that it would have to be used sparingly. I always enjoyed games of any kind in high school, especially as review for test. I am definitely going to integrate theater games or some kind of game to help students interact and help cement ideas with a personal experience.4
Theater games are so much fun!! What I like is that it will get the creative sides of the students' minds going, and at the same time you are relating your content to them. It doesn't matter if they remember your lectures word for word, but they sure will remember when somebody jumps off a desk, and they can ususally remember what went along with that. It has been almost a week since that class, but I can still see Landon sitting in his yard shooting a gun around in the air because Rosie O'Donnell lives next door. Great stuff! I will always reccommend theatre games to teachers.
Theater games are the best! I really like some of the activites we did. I can see how they would be able to incorporate everyone, especially the activities with the objects passed around the room. I will definitely be implementing that activity into my classroom. The theater games seem like an excellent tool for instruction and I also plan on using that tool as well. I really really like this especially as a use for test review. I think we did that once in a West Civ class.

I really like the theatre games that we played it really got us into the class. I might use this to some extent in my class. I am not sure what i am going to use as the prompts. The good thing about this is that it gets the kids involved in the learning process. They get to show off their creative side. The down side is that some students will not like to do it. Also, some of the skits that the students might do could perhaps be offensive.
